Honda Safety

We know that the people who matter to you could be drivers or passengers in one of our own cars, occupants of another vehicle or even pedestrians. That's why Honda looks beyond government regulations, studying real-world situations to develop new safety technologies for everyone.

body structure

ACETM Body Structure

This Honda-exclusive body design enhances occupant protection and crash compatibility in frontal collisions by distributing crash energy more evenly throughout the front of the vehicle.

airbags

Multiple Airbags

Every Honda is equipped with dual-stage, multiple-threshold front airbags to help protect you in the event of a collision. Select models are equipped with SmartVent® front side airbags and side curtain airbags with rollover sensor. Remember, though, that your seat belt is your primary mode of protection in any crash[1].

camera

Multi-Angle Rearview Camera with Dynamic Guidelines

Get a better view of what's behind you with three different angles: normal, top-down and wide[2].

lane departure

Lane Departure Warning (LDW)

LDW can detect unindicated lane departures from detected lanes. Alerts will flash and sound to help bring your attention to correcting the lane drift[3].

road departure

Road Departure Mitigation (RDM)

If your vehicle is detected drifting too close to the side of the road while driving 45‐90 mph without a turn signal activated, RDM alerts you with rapid vibrations on the steering wheel. If you continue to leave the roadway, it can also apply steering torque and braking to help keep your vehicle in the detected lane[4].

forward collision

Forward Collision Warning (FCW)

Integrated with the Collision Mitigation Braking SystemTM (CMBSTM), FCW uses a small camera mounted at the top of the front windshield to detect the presence of vehicles in front of you. If the FCW system determines that you are at risk of a collision with a detected vehicle, it activates audio and visual alerts to warn you[5]. If you fail to act, the CMBS will automatically apply brake pressure[6].

Collision Mitigation Braking Systemâ

Collision Mitigation Braking SystemTM (CMBSTM)

Utilizing a millimeter wave radar sensor, CMBS can help bring your Honda to a stop when the system determines that a collision with a vehicle detected in front of you is unavoidable. A warning sounds and, if necessary, brake pressure is automatically applied[6].

DISCLAIMERS:
[1] Honda reminds you and your passengers to always use seat belts and appropriate child seats. Children 12 and under are safest when properly restrained in the rear seat.
[2] Always visually confirm that it is safe to drive before backing up; the rearview camera display does not provide complete information about all conditions and objects at the rear of your vehicle.
[3] LDW only alerts drivers when lane drift is detected without a turn signal in use. LDW may not detect all lane markings or lane departures; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed and road condition. System operation affected by extreme interior heat.
Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions. Monitor cannot detect all objects behind or to the side of a vehicle and may not detect a given object; system accuracy will vary based on weather, size of object and speed. Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.
[4] Road Departure Mitigation only alerts drivers when lane drift is detected without a turn signal in use and can apply mild steering torque to assist driver in maintaining proper lane position and/or brake pressure to slow the vehicle's departure from a detected lane. Road Departure Mitigation may not detect all lane markings or lane departures; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed and road condition. System operation affected by extreme interior heat. Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.
[5] FCW cannot detect all objects ahead and may not detect a given object; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed and other factors. System operation affected by extreme interior heat. FCW does not include a braking function. Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.
[6] Depending on the circumstances, CMBS may not go through all the alert stages before initiating the last stage (of collision mitigation). CMBS cannot detect all objects ahead and may not detect a given object; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed and other factors. System operation affected by high interior heat. Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.
